From local development to just plain news of the weird, here are your RocLinks for this past week…
Woof
The city is considering loosening regulations in select areas to permit for off-leash dog parks in town. While Rochester seems a little late to the party in this regard, it will be a welcome change all the same. I don’t even have a dog, and I’d love one somewhere in Corn Hill. I would like to see the parks be somewhere that parking isn’t a consideration, though, as dog parks are for a neighborhood, like a playground, and not something to drive to.
Entrepreneurial Spirit
In a recent ranking, Rochester made 10th in the nation for female entrepreneurs. Considering other great cities like San Antonio and Oklahoma City are in the list, this is an excellent spot to be.
Nomnomnom
We’re crazy late to this link, but we felt you couldn’t live without it. Here are a variety of alternatives in Rochester to getting E. Coli from Chipotle. Eat up!
Long Range and You
There’s still a week to submit your comments on the Genesee Regional Transportation Council’s (GTC) Long Range Plan for Rochester. The plan will guide transportation investment for the next 30 years, so it’s a reasonably big deal to get it right, and GTC definitely wants to hear from you.
WEEEEEEeeeeeee…..
And finally, just a friendly reminder to be safe out there (and consider alternate forms of transportation). For example, take it easy on 390, unlike this person.
As always, use the comments below as open discussion for anything in these links – or let us know if there’s a topic you’d like to see us hit more aggressively in future RocLinks. Have a great weekend!

Dog parks are a great idea, except that people in Rochester have a habit of not cleaning up after their dogs. Maybe there should be an article on that, and maybe a little shaming along the way. Not only is it gross, but it’s unhealthy for people and pets and it pollutes our waterways that have taken years to clean back up. Let’s have some pride in our city and clean up after our pets.
