This is an aerial photo of where the bridge used to be. The shot was taken just a few days ago, on January 14, by Bob Biakowski. Here&#8217;s what it looked like before it was dismantled&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a title=\"The Hojack Swing Bridge as it was. [AERIAL PHOTO: Bing.com]\" width=\"406\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe Hojack Swing Bridge was built by the King Bridge Company (see references) for the New York Central Railroad in 1905, replacing a <a href=\"http:\/\/fineartamerica.com\/featured\/hojack-swing-bridge-rob-gates.html\" target=\"_new\">previous bridge <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"position:relative; top:2px;\" alt=\"external link\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochestersubway.com\/images\/icon_link.gif\" width=\"15\" heigth=\"11\" border=\"0\"><\/a>. It served part the Rome, Watertown and Ogdensburg Railroad (RW&#038;O) line, commonly known as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webstertrails.org\/hojack\/story.php\" target=\"_new\">The Hojack Line <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"position:relative; top:2px;\" alt=\"external link\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochestersubway.com\/images\/icon_link.gif\" width=\"15\" heigth=\"11\" border=\"0\"><\/a>, which operated along the south shore of Lake Ontario from Niagara Falls to Oswego. The US Coast Guard had declared the nearly 100-year-old bridge a navigation hazard for boaters, and ordered CSX Corporation to remove it from the Genesee River. Obviously, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebridgeproject.com\/\" target=\"_new\">efforts to save the bridge <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"position:relative; top:2px;\" alt=\"external link\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochestersubway.com\/images\/icon_link.gif\" width=\"15\" heigth=\"11\" border=\"0\"><\/a>, though valiant, ultimately fell far short.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"The Hojack Swing Bridge being demolished.
