The Circle of Life<\/h3>\n

Remember how the city fought against Marketplace Mall getting built for years, as it would hurt Midtown? Well Midtown’s long gone, and now, as is the pyramid scheme of suburban ‘investment,’ so too is Marketplace Mall.\"external<\/a> Unable to compete with Eastview, it’s switching formats to an outlet mall. I look forward to it being torn down for hundreds of single family homes built by Ryan in a decade or so.<\/p>\n

The Wages of Uncertainty<\/h3>\n

In case you ever wondered, “Gee, would the constant threat of my property being condemned and taken from me prevent me from making much needed improvements to it?” The answer is yes.\"external<\/a> I look forward to one of the final pieces of downtown as we think of it getting the same refresh as the rest of it. This can only be good.<\/p>\n

Douglass Fandom<\/h3>\n

In other news, Corey Booker (D-NJ) is a HUGE fan\"external<\/a> of Frederick Douglass. Consider this an open invitation to Senator Booker to come to Rochester so I (we) can make him a huge fan of the city FD called home as well.<\/p>\n

Homeward Bound<\/h3>\n

A long missing statue from St. Boniface in the South Wedge will soon be home\"external<\/a> after going missing for nearly 60 year. The statue was carted off with the rubble from a fire in 1957 and thought gone forever. Welcome back!<\/p>\n

New and Improved!<\/h3>\n

And finally, Rochester apparently had quite a few new restaurants\/venues\/attractions open over the winter.\"external<\/a> As a true fraud, I’ve managed to visit exactly zero of these establishments, but my brother tells me Mac’s in Corn Hill is decent, which is about the best review you’re likely to get of a cheesesteak outside Philly from a native.<\/p>\n
