[Image: Kathy Oehling Photography]\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMany people think of heart disease as a man\u2019s disease, but according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heart.org\/\" target=\"_new\">American Heart Association <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"position:relative; top:2px;\" alt=\"external link\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochestersubway.com\/images\/icon_link.gif\" width=\"15\" heigth=\"11\" border=\"0\"><\/a> one in three women die of heart disease and stroke. Here are some important facts&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10px -10px;\"> 80% of heart disease and stroke events may be prevented by lifestyle changes and education. Prevention starts with a Well-Woman Visit today, know your family health history.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10px -10px;\"> Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in African-American women, killing over 48,000 annually.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10px -10px;\"> A little more than half are likely to call 9-1-1 if they experience symptoms, yet 79% of women said they would call 9-1-1 if someone else was having a heart attack.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10px -10px;\"> Women\u2019s symptoms are different than men, they may include pressure across the chest, shortness of breath, pressure or pain in the lower chest or upper abdomen, dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting, upper back pressure or extreme fatigue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Rochester buildings were illuminated in red yesterday for National Wear Red Day, an event to raise awareness about heart disease &#038; stroke for the American Heart Association. Go Red For Women invites women to speak up and take charge of their heart health.
