In late October I got the opportunity to go check out a place nearby that I had heard rumors about\u2014a house that has been frozen in a state of construction since 2005. I don’t really feel comfortable sharing the exact location, but the property is in Fairport, NY, out near Egypt \"external<\/a> on a nice, quiet residential street \u2013\u00a0surrounded by woods and shrouded in mystery…<\/p>\n

\"There<\/a>
\nThere is an older home that was previously built on the property in the early 1960s. It was like any other suburban home of that era except that the family who lived there fell on some hard times. The father was getting into illegal drugs and becoming manic. The wife divorced him in the early 1990s and then sold the property in order to move to a safer location.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>
\nThe next owners used the woodland getaway as a storage facility and nothing more. It deteriorated rapidly.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>
\nThe property was put up for sale again in the late 1990s and a new couple bought it with the intention of building something new on the land. Plans made and permits obtained, construction began in 2005. The new modern house would overlook a pond, great woods, and a preserve area. <\/p>\n

\"With<\/a>
\nBut with the home about halfway complete, construction came to a standstill. Plumbing was part way installed. Electrical boxes were ready to be wired. The building envelope was complete and fully protected from the elements. <\/p>\n

\"And<\/a>
\nAnd this is the way things look ten years on.<\/p>\n

\"I'm<\/a>
\nI’m not exactly sure why things stopped. I have heard rumors of another divorce causing the property to be contested.<\/p>\n

\"Now<\/a>
\nNow these two structures on the same property\u2014although 50 years apart\u2014now face the same questionable fate.<\/p>\n
