The opening of a medical marijuana dispensary in Kodak’s old Theater on the Ridge at Eastman Business Park has recently been in the news \"external<\/a>. Columbia Care will turn the leaves, stems and stalks of the cannabis plant into medicine for people with cancer, AIDS, epilepsy, and other neurological conditions. The facility is expected \"external<\/a>to be up and running this January…<\/p>\n

\nWe tend to forget that as recently as the 1930s Cannabis was listed as a medical prescription in the U.S. But while doing some research today, I came across this ad (shown above) from the 1895 Rochester City Directory for Cannabis Sativa being sold out of the Powers Building in downtown Rochester. <\/p>\n

“The East India Consumption Cure” for nervous conditions, consumption, breathing problems, sleep problems, and a host of other medical conditions. <\/p>\n
