Last year, as part of ROC Transit Day \"external<\/a>, we planned a city-wide treasure hunt where teams followed a series of clues (for over 19 miles) to be the first to find a $500 cash prize at the end. The only catch: No motor vehicles. All teams were required to use public transit, walk, or bike. (it’s in the rules<\/a>!)<\/p>\n

This year (Thursday, June 18) we’re doing it again. It’s completely free to enter, but you must pre-register here \"external<\/a> before June 17. Right now we only have 6 teams signed up, so your odds would be pretty good; as long as you have a good working knowledge of Rochester.<\/p>\n

Still not sure if you’ve got the right stuff? Take a look at the clues from LAST year and see how well you’d fare…<\/p>\n

\nCLUE #1:<\/b> At 8:00a (and no later than 10:00a) you’ll begin your great CHASE. For your next clue report to the INFO BOOTH. All ROUTES converge at this place.<\/p>\n

\nCLUE #2:<\/b> Look UP, to the large set of WINGS… Take 7 FLIGHTS and your next clue will be waiting for you behind this symbol (shown above).<\/p>\n

\nCLUE #3:<\/b> This will be no day at the BEACH. If you want that $500 prize, you’ll need to DIG in.<\/p>\n

\nCLUE #4:<\/b> \u00a1Ay Dios Mio! What do you say we STOP for lunch? Ask Juan for “El ROC Transit Day especial.”<\/p>\n

\nCLUE #5:<\/b> Stay focused on the GOAL, or this might make you RAGING mad: Your next clue is waiting under one of 14,000 seats.<\/p>\n

\nCLUE #6:<\/b> Let’s do some window shopping at the coolest little VILLAGE in Rochester. While you’re there, pick yourself up one of these as a souvenir.<\/p>\n

CLUE #7:<\/b> Check-in at the top of the HILL… you’ll be asked to run one lap around to RESERVe yOIR next clue.<\/p>\n

\nCLUE #8:<\/b> You’ve searched high, now search low. Head UNDERGROUND and read the writing on the WALL.<\/p>\n

CLUE #9:<\/b> Thanks for visiting the Rochester subway. But your destination is directly ABOVE YOU.<\/p>\n

Last year’s winning time was 5 hours 45 minutes, 19.25 miles. <\/p>\n

Only difference this year will of course be the clues. $500 1st prize and $200 2nd prize must be split with a charity of your choice. 3rd prize is a pack of tickets to a Rochester Rhinos 2015 home game. <\/p>\n
