Sad news – Dominic Pane, proprietor of Mr. Dominic’s at the Lake, has passed away \"external<\/a>. I know I am sometimes hard on Charlotte<\/a>, but Mr. Dominic’s has been a fixture in town for over 40 years. He will be missed.<\/p>\n

Shopping Update!<\/h3>\n

BENRUS, a military-themed lifestyle brand (ok…) has opened its first retail store \"external<\/a> here in Rochester. Check it out over in the Culver Road Armory.<\/p>\n

Personal Folly<\/h3>\n

Since I get to pick the links, you get one to a review of the St. Vincent show \"external<\/a> that was at Water St. Music Hall a few nights ago. I think she (Annie Clark) is spectacular, and spoiler alert, the reviewers do too.<\/p>\n

Continuing Fortune(s)<\/h3>\n

For the 18th year in a row, Wegmans is one of Fortune’s top companies to work for \"external<\/a>. They would probably have been on the list longer had it been started more than 18 years ago.<\/p>\n

Flying Under the Radar<\/h3>\n

And finally, evading notice by just about anyone, the zoning board is reviewing a variance \"external<\/a> (PDF) this month for a 3-story, 60 unit apartment building on Monroe Ave at Union. The property is owned by Buckingham. If anyone has any details about this, I’d love to hear them.<\/p>\n
