From local development to just plain news of the weird, here are your RocLinks for this past week…
When ‘My Way’ is the Highway
In what would be a refreshing change anywhere but Rochester, the New York State Dept. of Transportaiton (NYSDOT) doesn’t think there needs to be more highway at the current western terminus of Rt. 531. Since this IS Rochester though, public outcry would have us spend $70-$100 Million to trim half-a-second off of a few hundred commutes. Sure, that sounds completely worthwhile. NYSDOT will hold a public hearing for the Route 531 Highway Project in Ogden on Feb. 5.
Now to Think About Doing Something
Remember those reasonably interesting plans to improve the Blue Cross Arena? Well now the city is looking for a consultant who might be able to help make them a reality.
Ever Poorer
Rochester is depressingly poor. Also outstanding, what can be done about it.
Charlotte St. Revisted
You may recall there was a Filling In regarding the Charlotte St. lot out for bid (and even another post). Well the winner of the proposal hasn’t yet been announced, but signs are beginning to point to a Konar/CJS partnership. This bodes well for the quality of the design.
Nom Nom Nom
And finally, if you are hungry but watching what you eat, check out these suggestions for lighter fare around town.
As always, use the comments below as open discussion for anything in these links – or let us know if there’s a topic you’d like to see us hit more aggressively in future RocLinks. Have a great weekend everyone!
