   As long as its done with quality materials it’ll look good. I’ve grown tired of the cheap building materials we use in Rochester, like Wegman’s faux disney 1900’s architecture. I wouldn’t want a city of this international/modern architecture, but done well it looks good.

   I like this design a lot more and the architect is a straight boss. The things he did with Culver Rd Armory and the building in back is great. I’m going to watch this construction almost daily and then try to get in there once it opens…ideally.

   I still wish they’d do something on the north facade to terminate the view looking south from Main down Cortland Street. I don’t know why Buckingham and/or their architects are so resistant to that concept…

   To be fair. PMB Studio is certainly talented at producing jaw dropping renderings, but the vast majority of the design of the Midtown Tower rehab is by CJS Architects. All you have to do is look at the early rendering they have on their website to see that PMB just tweaked a few areas of glazing, and some materials.

   Also to that point, the Culver Road Armory Rehab and new building are also predominately designed by Hanlon Architects with PMB Studio collaborating.

   The renderings from last month (those with the Apple store) shows what looks like a fun interactive public place that will draw people into downtown. These new renderings show something that people will only look at and think, “oh that’s nice,” as they drive by it.

    Dustin: these renderings are just the “skin”. Once businesses move in, it will look much different as they will tweak the facades to be brand-specific.

    Also, the prior renderings showed a presumed phase 2 to be built on the staging site (abutting Clinton, as opposed to the existing building).

    Thanks for the praise Chris! I, personally, was very excited to see that PB Studio took cues from our building form and facade design and dressed them up through his own iconic imagery. Midtown has the potential to really become an architectural statement within the city and I know I am so grateful to be a part of the team making it happen!

    These renderings show little creativity. I have lived
    In Rochester for 50 years and this is exactly
    What is wrong with some not all of the architects
    Of our skyline. Please don’t make the same mistakes
    That were made by the architects of the xerox building,
    Chase tower and the old Marine Midland Tower. You
    Ask what is Wrong with them? They are simply blah and
    Lack a defining distinctive look. Before you finalize
    Designs for Midtown tower consider the following;
    This will most likely be one of the last times that we
    Will have an to see out skyline re-defined so why not
    Put a distinctive look that gives the building and the city
    A unique look. A angular roof design similar to the
    Bausch and Lomb building would do just that, thus making
    It look like a brand new building and allowing Buckingham
    properties to create more marketing appeal.

    Hey Guys! The new website with the pictures is up! I attached it in the website area. The pictures look really great. It’ll be a nice change to the area I’m excited to see all the new restaurants and storefronts that decide to move to the area!
