The City Newspaper this week published an interview with Mayor Duffy, ‘It’s not too late to change’: Duffy on Ren Square . In it Duffy explains his recent coming out against the project as it is currently proposed. He cites recent changes in the business and development landscape downtown, new transportation stimulus funding, and sort of a personal awakening for his change of heart. Let’s show the Mayor we support him…
The Mayor says he’s always had mixed feelings on the project but didn’t want to upset relations between the city and the county. So why is he speaking out now? Who cares!? FINALLY we have someone who will “dig in” and fight to fix this outdated plan. Read the full interview and then…
Drop Mayor Duffy an email to let him know you support him. Or, more importantly, send one to Maggie Brooks and let her know you’d like her to take the Mayor’s concerns seriously.

Mayor Duffy is to be commended for his recognition of the value of historic structures. His stance on the Auditorium Theater is correct as well as the structures at Main and Clinton (too bad Neil Bauman is a slumlord Ren. Square or no Ren. Square).
Now if we could only get him to realize that the motor storage business shouldn’t be the primary fixation of a city executive…
