The Rochester Landmarks poster is a prize for any lover of architecture, local history, or the City of Rochester itself. Award-winning local Photographer, Richard Margolis has packed this 20" x 28" poster with 38 of Rochester's most beloved attractions. How many of them can you name?

There are the BIG ones: Kodak World Headquarters, Driving Park Bridge, the Powers Building... And then there are everyone's favorite hangouts: Highland Park Diner, House of Guitars, Nick Tahou's Hots... And, maybe there are even a couple of spots you haven't visited yet.

Every site in this collection of Rochester landmarks should be on your to-do list. Together, they make Rochester a great place to live!

Richard Margolis is an award-winning local art and architectural photographer. He enjoys discovering all about the histories of his subjects. He says his projects tend to find him, rather than him choosing the project. And he often jumps from project to project, working on several different things at a time... "I seem to shift easily from fairly straight photography to more manipulated series that rely on impulse and intuition rather than tradition." Richard was recently involved in The Bridge Project, an effort to save the Hojack Swing Bridge.

This poster isn't new, but most of the landmarks depicted haven't changed all that much since it was created - with the exception of the Hojack Swing Bridge, which was demolished in 2012.

After the Erie Canal was rerouted south of downtown Rochester, the Rochester Industrial & Rapid Transit Railway (the “subway”) was built in its place as a link between the five different railroads and interurban trolley lines that served the Rochester area. As the industrial landscape of Rochester changed, and highways replaced the railroads, the Rochester subway gradually became a relic of a bygone era. In 1956 the subway was abandoned and much of its route was converted into Interstate 490 — built to connect Rochester with the New York State Thruway (I-90).
